Infrared Thermography

Our lab testing mold.

One of the most innovative and cost cutting technologies in the industry is Infrared Thermography. IAQM has invested into this tool to detect trouble spots quickly and effectively. Using an infrared camera, we can illuminate anomalies in a structure helping to quickly identify the underlying moisture issues.

In some cases, utilizing our infrared capabilities can save you money by identifying areas behind walls where moisture is in a space and we are able to detect trouble spots early on, saving your structure from further damage. Because by the time you can see water staining, the damage has been done.

How it Works

The goal of infrared thermography is to assess the change in temperature across the surface area of the substrate in question. Every piece of matter on Earth with a temperature above Absolute Zero emits some level of thermal radiation. We use a highly specialized infrared camera to capture thermal radiation images in the infrared portion of electromagnetic wave lengths not visible to the human eye (see image below). And by capturing the change in thermal radiation levels, we are able to pinpoint moisture spots in a space.

Benefits of Infrared Thermography

Moisture and humidity are necessary components for harmful black mold to grow in a structure. But once moisture staining is visible, it is likely that a structure is already contaminated. By utilizing our infrared capabilities, we can launch a pre-emptive strike against air quality contaminates saving your home or business from costly renovation.
