When a disaster hits, whether it's a storm named Katrina or a plumbing leak that has been hidden for months, IAQM excels at creating safe, healthful environments in contaminated structures. Since 2001, our reputation has been built upon providing the best remediation services available.
When we begin a structural decontamination, one of the most pressing questions our clients have is, "How can I save my most valuable items?" They are understandably concerned with items such as files, records and irreplaceable data. Costly computers, storage drives and other expensive equipment in the office also provoke concern. What about all the valuable furs, jewelry, family heirlooms and all the irreplaceable photos? Without restoration, there is the possibility of cross contamination if those items are brought into a remediated structure.
With the introduction of Decon on Demand, simply call IAQM to answer all these questions. We have the technology, equipment and dedicated brand of service to completely satisfy all your contents restoration needs. By using our efficient and effective processes you will save valuable time and money during contents restoration. Being proactive about contents restoration services can save many of your valuable items. Addressing the problem quickly and having the job done right the first time is a crucial step to retaining items once thought to be unsalvageable.
IAQM has developed an innovative, safe, fast, and efficient process for contents decontamination. IAQM was also the first to offer on-line, flat rate pricing with no need for supplementation, the first to offer 72 hour clearance, and the first to address shared air decontamination without the need for costly containment or negative air machines. Now IAQM is the only company to offer Decontamination on Demand. DOD decontamination tractor trailers are scientifically engineered and arrive on the job site fully equipped with the latest decontamination technology. This allows our trained, certified professionals to clean and restore your valuables unlike any other service provider in the industry. Our DOD 18 wheeler gives you the assurance of a thorough decontamination and restoration service while maintaining the integrity of your personal property or company records.
In a matter of hours we can rid your valuable belongings of contaminants. By restoring your contents onsite, we reduce the threat of breakage, theft, and other risks associated with transportation while minimizing the stress and hassle of traditional contents restoration, saving you valuable time and money. IAQM is unlike anyone else in the indoor air quality restoration industry. We know a successful project does not end with just the decontamination of the structure alone. We know you want to restore clean, healthy air and we understand the importance of retaining your belongings.
When it comes to the decontamination of toxins associated with raw sewage, biological, chemical, mold and mold by-product contaminants, the first step in restoring clean air is decontamination of the source.
After hurricanes, floods, and other disasters, IAQM has been called upon by residential and commercial property owners when other restoration companies have failed. We've provided our services in many schools, casinos, government buildings and individual residences. You can be assured that if IAQM is contracted for your building, it will be done right the first time, every time.
Microorganisms, or microbes, are everywhere and the average human is exposed to millions of them every day. However, microbial contamination even in a single area can greatly amplify the exposure to microbes and bacteria. All microbes exist in a specific niche and tend to remain there for the most part. But given the opportunity to enter a new environment like a vulnerable structure, they will. These new microbes are foreign to the normal environmental makeup, and pose a hazardous threat to the new environment, making any area susceptible to microbiological compromise, including your workplace or home.
When indoor air quality is compromised by moisture intrusion, your structure becomes a hotbed for the formation of biofilms. Biofilms are tightly linked sheets or layers of similar or dissimilar microbial species that bond firmly to a surface. And in the case of a building compromised by moisture intrusion, these biofilms can be found on anything from computers to furniture to carpet.
These harmful microbes attach like glue to building materials by secreting their own biological material, exopolymeric substance. This extra-cellular layer, also called EPS, is comprised of carbohydrates and protein. EPS not only serves as a nutrient source for the toxic microbes, but also as a protective shield warding off disinfectants and other sanitizers. The microbes use these nutrients and the protective layer to grow and reproduce, and continue to do so until the problem is remedied.
The central element in the formation of biofilms is water. Biofilms are comprised of between 85 percent and 90 percent water and are a hotbed for microbial growth. So a structure made vulnerable by moisture intrusion is highly prone to biofilm formation and contamination.
Biofilms form in two steps. In the first stage of formation, microbes are weakly attached to a surface through electrostatic or van der Waals forces. It is at this stage that the formation of the biofilm is at its highest risk. In the second stage of formation, the EPS strengthens the biofilm by helping the once weakly bound microbes glue themselves to the surface in question. This is a much more difficult process to reverse, and often, once this level of maturity exists, it is nearly impossible to undo.
As discussed earlier, microbial growth can quickly become a devastating problem to the contents of an office or home. Understanding the nature of the problem, IAQM has developed an unmatched solution in the form of its Decon On Demand service. The key to our success is understanding the applications needed and designing the most powerful and safest decontamination equipment ever developed. We use a two-step approach employing either oxidation or neutralization, depending on the substrate, to eradicate the hazardous effects of microbial growth.
Plasma generation produces a gas that is a triatomic form of oxygen, or ozone, meaning the gas in its molecular form is comprised of three oxygen atoms, whereas the air we use as a life source is comprised of two. For more than a century, plasma generated gas has been used to disinfect drinking water and preserve food. It is widely held as a biocide against viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa, but most importantly in this case, against biofilms. In fact, plasma disinfects via oxidation, eliminating any chance for microbes to develop a resistance to it, unlike other poisons or sanitizers.
Our DOD trailers are outfitted with a unique plasma generation device that creates disinfecting plasma gas on site and on demand. Know as corona discharge generators, they are manufactured by expert engineers whose resumes include work with the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA and private firms such as Disney. Very similar technology is used on fruits and vegetables. According to the USDA and FDA it is considered 100% organic .
Once the DOD corona discharge generators are energized, they create the cleansing plasma O3 gas. After the plasma gas saturates the target area, the process of oxidation through electro- negativity begins. The plasma created gas releases the free radicals of oxygen that are highly energized and immediately go on the attack. Mold, bacteria, viruses and volatile organic compounds are destroyed. What is left is carbon dioxide and oxygen, creating a safe environment after the treatment is completed.
Studies have shown that compared to chlorine, a highly toxic agent traditionally used in disinfection, O3 plasma generated gas is 1.5 times stronger and more than 3000 times faster acting in breaking down bacterial cell walls. This mix of strength and speed make it the most powerful disinfectant among all available solutions, and it leaves no chemical residue.
